Chalk Paint for Furniture and Cabinets

Many of you have heard of chalk paint, and have likely used it or seen it on Pinterest.  Annie Sloan's chalk paint is by far the most popular out there, but there are other exceptional brands as well.

Did you know that you can also make your own chalk paint?  It's really simple, and comes out looking just as lovely.  Below is a chart of homemade recipes.  The number one mix on the chart is the calcium carbonate recipe.  If you choose to make this version, it's best to search online for the calcium carbonate, and will prove to be worth your time and effort once you see the final product.

You may still be wondering why people use chalk paint and what is does.

It's often used to revamp old furniture pieces or cover kitchen cabinets.  This is because chalk paint can very easily cover flaws in wood really well, and you also do not have to sand most pieces before painting.  That's the worst part, isn't it?  The finish adds a nice, antiqued look as well.  Less work and a beautiful final product make this paint a favorite among homemakers, bloggers, and your average Joe.

Below are several pictures of chalk paint makeovers and final products that can be found around the web.
